InfiniBandSM TRADE ASSOCIATION SHOWCASES INFINIBAND INTEROPERABILITY PROGRESS; INDUSTRY INTEROPERABILITY DEMONSTRATION HIGHLIGHTED AT STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD

ORLANDO, Fla. --Oct. 22, 2001--The InfiniBand Trade Association today showcased early progress of industry interoperability with a multi-vendor demonstration featuring a video-on-demand application.

The demonstration highlights InfiniBand fabric scalable performance through simultaneous transmission of multiple video files from Fibre Channel storage drives to an Ethernet client, through an InfiniBand fabric. This demonstration is taking place at the 2001 Fall Storage Networking World Conference.

Companies participating in the demonstration include the following Trade Association members: Agilent Corporation, Amphenol, Banderacom, BMC, CATC, Data-Transit, EMC Corporation, Finisar, Foxconn, InfiniSwitch, Intel Corporation, Lane15 Software, Mellanox, OmegaBand, Prisa Networks, QLogic, Tektronix, Tyco, and Wavecrest. The demonstration highlights the progress the InfiniBand industry has made with InfiniBand interoperability.

"A true measure of the success of an industry-standard specification is interoperability of multiple vendor's products," said Jim Pinkerton of Microsoft Corporation, a member of the InfiniBand Trade Association's Steering Committee. "This early progress provides a leading indicator on the serious focus of the industry on delivering interoperable InfiniBand fabrics to our customers."

This demonstration comes as the InfiniBand Trade Association is finalizing plans for its fourth InfiniBand Conference. The two-day conference features a full day of training to IT managers, as well as a day of solutions panels hosted by industry experts and featured panelists from every segment of the InfiniBand development and user communities. Dr. Moira Gunn, host of NPR's TechNation: Americans & Technology will deliver the opening keynote, and more than 30 member companies are expected to exhibit their InfiniBand Architecture product plans and demos.

About InfiniBand Trade Association

The Internet is creating an increased demand for server computer I/O subsystem performance, scalability, reliability and flexibility. A shift to a switched fabric-based I/O architecture will enable industry participants to meet this increased demand. The InfiniBand Trade Association developed a specification for a channel-based, switched fabric architecture that provides a scalable performance range of 500 Mbyte/s to 6 Gbyte/s, meeting the needs from entry level to high-end enterprise systems. InfiniBand Trade Association represents the industry's choice for developing I/O technologies that will keep pace with the demands of the Internet age.
