InfiniBandTm Trade Association Launches IT Program
Program To Target Early Adopters of New Server Architecture
LAS VEGAS, May 8, 2001 - The InfiniBand Trade Association today announced the launch of a program designed to introduce IT managers to the benefits of InfiniBand architecture. The announcement came at the Networld+Interop Conference, where 17 Trade Association members showcased their InfiniBand product developments.
The InfiniBand Trade Association IT Program, targeted for early implementers of InfiniBand fabrics, offers comprehensive training on the InfiniBand specifications directly from the primary architects of the technology. IT program members will have access to all Trade Association events and training to become experts on InfiniBand architecture, a new I/O interconnect technology that aims to re-define data center connectivity. Additionally, IT program members will provide feedback on new products and implementations as they are developed by vendors.
"There’s tremendous demand among IT managers for information about how InfiniBand will fit into their data center operations," said David Heisey, of Compaq Corporation, a member of the InfiniBand Trade Association’s Steering Committee, "The program gives IT managers access to in-depth information and training and gives IT leaders a way to provide feedback to the vendors developing new products based on the technology. Interest in the program and demand for InfiniBand among IT leaders suggest an aggressive adoption ramp of InfiniBand in the data center." InfiniBand – Page 2
Developers Conference
The Trade Association will launch the IT program at its upcoming Developers Conference, June 19-22 in Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The Developer's Conference will feature a multi-day tutorial on the InfiniBand architecture specification by the primary architects of the technology and information about upcoming compliance and interoperability activities. This event will also include InfiniBand architecture related exhibits from more than 30 member companies. The Developer's Conference is open to members and the public.
Plugfest
The InfiniBand Trade Association has also announced that its first Plugfest will be held June 5 – 7 in Milpitas, Ca. This members-only event will allow multiple vendors to initiate testing of their InfiniBand products for compliance and interoperability.
