IBTA Launches the RoCE Initiative!
On June 23, 2015, the IBTA launched the RoCE Initiative, a new program to highlight the many benefits of RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) and to facilitate the technology’s adoption in enterprise data centers. Through the initiative CIOs, data center architects, and systems engineers will have access to tutorials, case studies, and other resources to increase their understanding of RoCE and its benefits to further expand the adoption of the technology.
Several industry publications highlighted the announcement, including, ZDNet, Tom’s IT Pro and StorageReview.com.
Be sure to explore www.RoCEInitiative.org and check out the growing list of RoCE technical resources, which includes whitepapers, solution briefs and case studies. Also, watch and share our “What is RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE)?” video for a brief overview of the technology.

To InfiniBand and Beyond – Supercomputing Support for NASA Missions
High performance computing has been integral to solving large-scale problems across many industries, including science, engineering and business. Some of the most interesting use cases have come out of NASA, where supercomputing is essential to conduct accurate simulations and models for a variety of missions. Did you know that InfiniBand technology is at the heart of NASA’s flagship supercomputer, Pleiades? Check out the IBTA blog for more interesting facts about NASA’s Pleiades supercomputer.

Mellanox Releases Open Source Code for “Soft-RoCE” to Accelerate Enterprise Deployments of RDMA
At the Red Hat Summit, Mellanox Technologies announced the release of “Soft-RoCE” – a software implementation of RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE). Resulting from a joint development effort with IBM and System Fabric Works, the freely-available software implementation of RoCE enables servers and storage systems to communicate with RDMA using any industry-standard Ethernet adapter. The open source software supports the RoCE Initiative within the InfiniBand Trade Association, which promotes multi-vendor RDMA over Ethernet solutions for cloud and enterprise data centers.
